Doing art projects with your toddler may look like it's just a bunch of messy fun, but creating art actually yields many developmental benefits. For starters, it improves fine motor skills and boosts confidence. Perhaps more importantly, it encourages children to think creatively and imaginatively, which helps them think "outside the box" when problem solving. Try using some of the following art supplies with your toddler.
ALEX Discover My Giant Busy Box Craft Kit - If you are not a creative mom, but your child loves to do crafts this box is perfect. The box comes with everything you need to complete 16 different projects from molding animals out of clay, decorating picture frames, and creating paper bag puppets.
Crayola Magic Scene Creator - Draw a scene and it comes it life when you insert a motion card.
Crayola My First Safety Scissors - This pack of scissors comes with 3 different cutting edges (straight, wavy, and zigzag). Blades won't cut skin or hair.
Crayola Pip Squeaks Telescoping Marker Tower - 50 washable markers are included in this set which expands for easy access to all the colors and then collapses to one level for easy storage.
Do A Dot Art Markers - These markers have a special dot marker paint applicator which allows children to experiment with layering colors to create new colors and textures.
Doodle It Book - I saw this reusable doodle book by Jaq Jaq Bird at this year's Toy Fair and absolutely loved it. It comes with 4 Butterstix, which are dust free sticks of chalk that only wipe off when you use a damp cloth. This is great for home, travel, restaurants, you name it. You can also write with the Butterstix on glass, plastic, mirrors, and windows.
Honeysticks 100% Pure Beeswax Crayons - If you have the kid who eats the crayons at playgroup and it is something that upsets you, there is no need to be upset anymore! These crayons are made from 100% beeswax in New Zealand, from bees also in New Zealand. They contain no paraffin or fillers and are incredibly hard to break. They do smell like honey which may or may not entice your child to eat them.
Melissa and Doug Deluxe Magnetic Standing Art Easel - This double-sided easel features a white board on one side, and a magnetic chalkboard on the other. Two children can draw or paint at the same time using either a 12 inch or an 18 inch paper roll. But perhaps my favorite thing about this easel is that it folds up so incredibly flat it can be stored almost anywhere.
Some accessories you may want to be sure to include with your easel are the Melissa and Doug Spill Proof Paint Cups and Crayola Washable Paint. We exclusively use this paint at home and it really does wash off of everything.
When making an extra special painting, the Artlicious 8x10 Primed Canvas Panel Boards are a great choice and they come in value packs making them super affordable.
While they creating their masterpieces, they can do so in style with these super cute J Mark Art Smock Painting Aprons. They come in a pack of two and are sized ideally for children aged 2-7.
Melissa and Doug Sticker Collection Book: 1,000 Stickers for Seasons and Celebrations - This sticker collection is great for making cards and decorations, as well as creating different scenes.
OOLY Chunkies Paint Sticks - These are amazing. They are mess free and smudge free. They are like crayons, but they are also like paint but do not requite any water, and have a twist off cap, making them easy to travel with as well. OOLY is also committed to working with AdoptAClassroom, providing teachers with needed supplies and materials.
