10 Gift Ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week

*Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 3rd – 7th*

There are many lessons we have learned from living through the pandemic. One insight that cannot be underscored enough is the importance of teachers. Whether your child has been attending school in a remote, hybrid, or on-site learning environment this year, teachers have risen to the occasion to support our kids during these turbulent times. Their kindness and compassion have shone through, even as teachers had to balance their own personal and family needs. Now is our chance to thank our educators for all that they do and honor the integral role they play in nurturing the next generation.

Below you’ll find some ideas about how to celebrate these very special individuals in our community.

Bagel Breakfast

Nourish your child’s teacher with a bagel sandwich from Hoboken Hot Bagels as a special breakfast treat. There are many delicious sandwiches to choose from. If you are looking for a healthier option, check out the egg white sandwich for $3.55. Gift certificates are available for purchase as well.

Caffeine Fix

Pick up a gift card from a local coffee shop to keep your teacher caffeinated and energized. Lucky for us, there are so many options when it comes to coffee in Hoboken! Some of our favorite places participating in the Hook-up card program include: Black Rail, Choc O Pain, Empire Coffee & Tea Company, Hidden Grounds, Hudson Coffee, Joey No Nuts, The Little Local, and The Roost. For any teachers who are teaching remotely, you can never go wrong with Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks!

Encourage Endorphins

As part of a special Teacher Appreciation Week promotion, Athleta on 316 Washington Street will be offering a 20% discount for any item purchased in store. Support the mind-body connection for your teacher by purchasing a gift here. The discount cannot be counted towards a gift card, but that’s a great option to consider, too.

Flower Power

Brighten up your teacher’s day by picking up a bouquet from All Occasion Florist. Stop by the store and work with a floral associate to assemble the perfect mixture of bright spring flowers, including sunflowers and lilies, starting at $20.

Literary Love

Build up your teacher’s classroom library with a teacher themed book or gift certificate from Little City Books. My personal favorite picture book for Teacher Appreciation Week is Thank you, Mr. Falker by Patriccia Polacco. It is the story of a little girl who learns to read after struggling with a learning disability. You can find other book and gift recommendations in a special Teacher Appreciation Week display at the Little City Books Children's Annex.

Little Hoboken

Shop local at our brick and mortar store for a fun gift. A teacher themed pen set, coffee mugs, and wine tumblers are all available for purchase. My personal favorite is a 18K gold plated heart necklace with an accompanying message of thanks.

Pamper Package

718 Beauty Bar has a terrific special offering on Tuesdays and Wednesdays of a manicure and pedicure package for $30. This nail salon also offers a 10% teacher discount, which can be applied for services Thursday-Sunday, but cannot be combined for the Tuesday-Wednesday special. Treat your teacher to a gift card so they can unwind and get their nails done.

Sweet Treats

Sugarsuckle is offering education themed desserts for Teacher Appreciation Week, including a “You Rule” cookie set, “Take Note” pencil cookie, “Sticking With Me” glue cookie, among other adorable options. A 2-day lead time for orders is preferred, but they will do their best to help with last-minute emergencies!

Homemade and Heartfelt

Have your child design a card or record a video expressing their love for their teacher. Get super creative by encouraging your child to write a poem or record themselves singing a song. Sincerity is the key ingredient in showcasing gratitude for the amazing teachers in our lives!

Paper Source:

Paper Source at 501 Washington Street is offering education themed mugs, journals, notepads, desk signs, and water bottles. All can be found in a special Teacher Appreciation Week section. A super cute option is a personalized custom stamp.

Having trouble deciding what to get? Just go for it and combine some of the elements above for a deluxe gift bag of goodies for your child’s teacher. This is the year to go all out to ensure our teachers feel appreciated for their heroic efforts. From all of us at Little Hoboken, we thank our teachers for all that they do!
