Total Beauty Mom: My Go-To Makeup Brushes

I'm sure you can imagine, as a makeup lover and artist, my makeup collection and tool kit is a biiiiit out of control. So today, I’ve narrowed down my arsenal of a-million-and-one makeup brushes to my top six favorites. These are my go-to brushes – the brushes I’m always grabbing for and what I’d consider essential for every day makeup application.

*I’ve linked the brushes below, but you don’t necessarily need these exact brushes. As long as you’re using the correct brush for the product you’re applying, I’ve found it doesn’t really matter if it's a specific brand name.

  1. beautyblender Original Makeup Sponge Applicator – The perfect sponge for applying primer, foundation, concealer, cream blushes and blending your overall look.

  2. F30 Large Powder Brush – I love a big fluffy brush to apply powder all over my face. I use a second big fluffy brush for applying bronzer and highlighter.

  3. F10 Powder/Blush Brush – I’m a huge fan of rouge. It really brightens up your face and unless you’re using a cream blush, the only way to apply a powdered blush is with a blush brush. Apply the blush on the apples of your cheek in an upwards motion to really lift the face.

  4. MAC 286S Synthetic Duo Fibre Tapered Brush – If there’s one brush you need for your eyes it’s this one. I can’t live without it. When it comes to makeup, especially eye makeup, you want everything to look blended with no harsh lines. This brush is perfect for effortlessly blending out your shadow.

  5. MAC 219S Synthetic Pencil Brush – Another one of my faves. This is the most versatile brush I own. It can be used so many ways. I particularly use it for blending eyeshadow along my upper and lower lash line, in the outer corners of my eye and for smoking out my liner.

  6. MAC266S Synthetic Small Angle Brush – This is a great brush for creating a winged eyeliner. The brush does all the work for you. Simply line the top lash line and drag the brush outwards to create a subtle cat eye look.
