Kids and wine are easily two of my favorite things, so when a non-profit organization invites me to taste wine for the benefit of protecting children, it’s a win-win. When the wine tasting is on a Friday night and there’s a DJ involved, well, that’s when I have to share the 411 with everyone I know…

On Friday, March 23rd, Hudson County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) s hosting the 12th Annual Wine Tasting at Maritime Parc in Jersey City, NJ, featuring wines hand selected by Cork Wines & Spirits in Hoboken and a silent auction with fabulous items ranging from family events to gifts from local vendors (like a huge basket of swag from Little Hoboken!), as well as sweets + treats, and DJ entertainment.

CASA is a non-profit organization committed to advocating for abused and neglected children. CASA works through trained volunteers to ensure that needed services and assistance are made available to children while helping to move them toward safe and permanent homes. CASA volunteers serve as “a child’s voice in court” making recommendations to the family court judge that are in the best interest of the child. CASA’s purpose is to improve the well-being and future outcomes of foster children through the advocacy of its committed volunteers.

In addition, CASA supports several initiatives, including distribution of backpacks with school supplies, a free bookstore, Birthday Cake project for children who may have never received a birthday cake and/or gift, generous holiday toy drive, and the opportunity to send children to attend a variety of camps and summer programs.

If I haven’t convinced you to buy a ticket yet, let me tell you this: the wine tasting will also include a “bubbles” room with premium champagne, featuring Toss for a Cause, where guests can win bottles of wine ranging from $20 to high end and magnum bottles.

Tickets can be purchased at from March 11 for $125. They will sold at the door for $150. All proceeds from the Wine Tasting directly benefit Hudson County CASA. Last year alone, more than 75 children attended summer camp primarily from funds donated by guests at the event!

In addition to attending, donations can be made directly to Cork for their event/Toss for a Cause wine selection, as well as by purchasing a volunteer’s ticket through the ticket sale site here.

I hope to see many of you for a great night to support a great cause.
