Amanda Sawyer has been teaching for eight years at some of the most prestigious schools throughout New York and New Jersey, and has worked under some really impressive names. Outside of her teaching career, Amanda has worked TV, political campaigns and theater production. As a teacher she focuses on arts and politics which lends her skills to a common thread among everything she does: Public Speaking & Leadership.
Whether you are on stage portraying Romeo & Juliet, or campaigning to be the next POTUS, public speaking is a skill that must be mastered. So, Amanda created a program to teach this treasured skill to children of all ages, adapting the program to each audience in order to empower kids and help them develop leadership & confidence.
"Studies around America have shown that people will not (or cannot) seize the moment in most situations because they are paralyzed with fear. This worried and distressed me, particularly because I know how brilliant and talented many so many people are....[by teaching the skill of public speaking] it is my hope that [my students] will then make a change in the worlds of the people they work with. I envision a society that lifts everyone up so that we may march forward, stronger together," says Amanda.
Amanda's program, Gift of Soft Skills, is starting a summer session in Hoboken at The Hudson School. Classes are for children 8-15 years old and will focus on skills such as interviewing, public speaking, marketing and creative writing. Amanda's passion for her program and for the kids she teaches has been evident in every conversation and email. Your children will not only learn invaluable lessons, but will also have the time of their lives.
