I would love to invite you to join us in honoring Madison and raising CHD Awareness.
On Friday, June 9th we are co-chairing Hayden's Heart Foundation's Annual Golf Tournament. This year the golf outing is named "Heart Strong" in honor of both Madison and Hayden.
The golf outing registration and breakfast starts at 8am and kicks off at 9am with a shotgun start. Participants will receive a swag bag full of goodies and a cooler in addition to a luncheon immediately following at 1pm. There is also a lunch only option available for those who do not wish to golf.
We will have both door prizes and raffle items to give away in addition to golf contests. This year we have some amazing items such as a Michael Kors handbag, Tiffany and Co. necklace, Yankees tickets, Jets tickets with sideline passes, signed Eric Decker ball and jersey, signed Phil Simms ball and jersey, golf items and much more!
Many local Hoboken businesses have also been so generous in donating for our event. A huge thank you to Local Barre, Cyclebar, Athleta, The Golden Carrot, AaRaa Accessories, Massage Envy, Hoboken Man, Salon Phoenix, Hoboken Wellness Spa, No.18 Boutique, Empire Coffee & Tea Co. Up & Out, Blo It Out, ArteVino Studios, Hudson Paperie, and, of course, our very own, Little Hoboken Blog. There is still time if you wish to donate a physical item or gift card for the event. Just email me at email@example.com and I can pick it up. This is also the last call for sponsorships for the outing.
All proceeds from the event will go to The Oldenburger Family for their heart warrior, Shea, living with a CHD. We have selected the Oldenburger family because they are particularly close to our heart. We want to give back to such an amazing and inspirational family. Shea's mom, Rachel, was one of the first "heart moms" I found and befriended. She was such a huge support once we found out about Madison's heart condition. We met for the first time, after Madison was born, at NYPresbyterian Hospital by coincidence when Shea was coming in for an appointment. Rachel continues to support us along this journey and helps us to honor Madison.
Hayden's Heart Inc is a non-profit 501c3 foundation that has been created to honor heart warrior and angel, Hayden Dorsett. He was born with a heart defect called HLHS- Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Hayden unexpected passed away at 5 months old and only a few short months later his legacy was born. Their organization is dedicated to raising CHD awareness and helping heart families in their time of need.
Ady Dorsett is Hayden's mom and mother to 3 other little boys, Jackson, Hudson, and Greyson. Ady has been one of my main supporters during this unimaginable time. I can not think of a better person or organization to partner with. Ady, Rob, and Hayden's Heart are doing so much in Hayden's honor and continue to expand. I will be attending Hayden's Heart, Healing of the Heart Retreat, this summer along with 25 other grieving mothers who lost a child from CHD. I have also recently joined Hayden's House of Healing Campaign Committee to help with fundraising and promotion of their new venture. Ady and I are unfortunately a part of a "club" that no one wants to be, but I am eternally grateful for her friendship and continuous love and support. I look up to her as I continue to navigate my way through my grief journey.
"Rob and I are honored to cohost this year's golf outing with the Cohen family. When you lose a child, you feel an instant connection with other parents who are also experiencing the same unimaginable loss. Stephanie and I connected instantly and in a world that is often isolating, we find comfort in not only each other's company, but also in doing GOOD in memory of our babies. We are happy to support the Oldenberger family as they navigate the heart world with their son Shea. We are beyond grateful to all who support us in not only this event, but our overall mission in helping families affected by Congenital Heart Defects. " Ady Dorsett
The golf outing comes just one week before Madison's 1st birthday on June 17th. This is one of the best ways we can honor our daughter for her special day. Please come support us in our effort to raise CHD awareness. We look forward to seeing you at the Golf Outing!
Stephanie Cohen is a local mom who works every day to honor the memory of her baby girl Madison. With her husband Matt, and labradoodle Willow, this family is the shining example of love and strength. You may know Stephanie from her main gig at Local Barre, but you will definitely get to know her as the face of Little Hoboken's charity and community outreach.
To reach Stephanie, or to tell us about a charity or family in need, email firstname.lastname@example.org
