Drugstores can be an amazing resource for any beauty junkie on a budget. Have you ever wondered what drugstore finds makeup artists love?
Here are a few of my favorites:
Most moms know about this balm and use it as a diaper cream. It is also great for a slew of skin care needs as well. It can be used as lip balm and on any dry patches. It's a great overnight hand cream for super dry and cracked hands and a nighttime eye cream Be sure you only use it at night though and rinse your face in the morning as your eye makeup won't stay on very long with this stuff on underneath. It does contain petroleum and glycerin which can be irritants and some people try to avoid. Beautycounter's Baby Balm is a great natural version that works well too.
Real Techniques Brushes
You will find many of these brushes in my makeup kit. The price is right and they are cruelty free. Even if you don't wear much makeup a few of the right brushes will help your makeup apply more evenly.
This stippling brush can be used to apply foundation, blush and even powder. I especially like it to blend out cream blush.
This eye set has all of the brushes you need to do a neutral look on the eyes. It includes an all over eye brush, blending crease brush, eyeliner brush, smudging brush and angled eyebrow brush. The all over eye brush doubles as a great concealer brush too!
L'Oréal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black is a staple in almost every makeup artist's kit. The fluffy brush and formula makes your lashes full and thick and the super black pigment makes your eyes pop.
A great matte eyeshadow palette is a makeup artist must have. My favorite is Sonia Kashuk Eye Couture Eye Palette - Eye on Neutral 02. This one basically does it all and is only $19.99 You can use it to create any look. The soft pigmented powder works great as an eyeliner when wet or dry and is great for filling in brows when used with an angle brush. This palette is compact and perfect to fit in your makeup bag. I also love pairing it with whatever shimmer eyeshadow palette I'm using at the moment.
This oil has so many uses and I'm sure a lot of you are already cooking with it. It is a great beauty product as well. I use the SheaMoisutre 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil as a body moisturizer right out of the shower. You can warm some of it in your hands or even leave it in the shower so it liquifies. Its great on your baby's skin as well and safe to use from the newborn stage. I also love using it as an eye makeup remover.
