Mom life is beautiful, fun, hilarious, exhausting... and downright messy! Some days I look around and think "what actually happened here today?". From dirty laundry to finger prints to a sink full of dishes, it can feel like my place gets dirty a minute after I clean! Even before becoming a mom, I started to get frustrated with the amount of money I was spending on cleaning products. While you won't see me on Extreme Couponing anytime soon, I definitely like to cut unnecessary expenses, and when I figured out how to make my own cleaning supplies I just couldn't justify the store bought stuff in our budget anymore! As a bonus, these DIY products are also free of excess chemicals and artificial scents. Here are a few of my favorite recipes for a clean home.
All Purpose Cleaner
In an empty spray bottle (I find mine at Target or Dollar Tree):
50:50 Water and Vinegar
1 tsp lemon oil
Shake and use!
Laundry/Dish Detergent
In a round plastic container (also a Dollar Tree find):
1 box Mule Team Borax (I get mine on Amazon)
1 cup baking soda
1 bar of Ivory soap, grated (for laundry only - optional)
*Can also add a few drops of essential oils such as lemon to individual washes
Wood Cleaner
In a spray bottle, combine:
1 cup water
1/2 cup vinegar
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp blue Dawn
Shower Cleaner
In a spray bottle, combine:
Water
15-20 drops of Tea Tree Oil
Air Freshener
In a spray bottle, combine:
Water
Drops of essential oil of choice until desired scent is achieved (I like lavender)
Happy cleaning, mamas!
