Bagels and Bubbles

"This is my jam!" proclaimed one of the guys behind the counter as he bopped around his station to an Alanis Morissette song. My sentiments exactly, dude. I had been thinking the same thing for the past 30 minutes as Backstreet Boys, Ace of Base, Third Eye Blind, Harvey Danger, and Sublime shuffled through their playlist. The throwback music isn't the best part about this place though; neither is the smell of Taylor Ham wafting through the air or the iced coffee they have on tap. Apparently, I am not the only one addicted to their cold brew, because when I crawled there this morning, they were sold out. The world ended. That is hardly an exaggeration, but Co-Owner, Stephen El-Hassan, quickly remedied my near apocalyptic moment by offering the Kombucha Tea (also on tap). As if choosing from their delicious bagels isn't hard enough, now I can't decide which beverage I love more. Stephen informed me that I am about to have more tough decisions, as they will be crafting some "in house" concoctions to fill the other two taps. I digress. The best part about this place is obviously the bagels. They are the most amazing bagels in the world. I am allowed to make a statement that bold because:

1. It's America.

2. I've been going to O'Bagel in Stirling since I was a kid and still have not found a worthy competitor.

3. awarded them the title of NJ's Best Bagel (and if you're the best in NJ, you're the best, period.)

Brunching is big in Hoboken with almost every restaurant in town boasting the best deal, but as Fifth Harmony sings "You can brunch from home oh, oh, oh-oh," or something like that. Head over to 600 Washington, pick up a bag of fresh bagels, containers of their delicious cream cheeses, warm breakfast sandwiches, and some of their salads…then pop some bottles!

Celebrate the O'Bagel family putting down roots in our beautiful city, not having to wait for a table, and getting to stay in your pajamas a little bit longer, with the Lucien Albrecht Cremant d’Alsace coming from Delite Market at 420 Washington (they carry both the Brut and Brut Rose for $15.99 each).

Brut: 50% Pinot Blanc, 25% Pinot Gris, 25% Riesling

Light and elegant on the palate. Subtle yeasty quality mix with fresh citrus and apple notes. Delicious to drink on its own, but neutral enough to mix up some Mimosas of Bellinis. Coming from one of the founding fathers of Cremant in Alsace and most distinguished producer of the region, enjoy with a classic: Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel.

Rose: 100% Pinot Noir

Dry and crisp, the strawberry and red cherry notes are complimented by a creamy texture. Try it with the “Lox n Loaded” breakfast sandwich!
